What does this mean?
Forms the basis of a consultation and asks about levels of activity, alcohol consumption, smoking and stress levels.
Height & Weight
What does this mean?
A measurement of your height and weight can help provide context towards other measurements taken.
Pulse Rate
What does this mean?
A measurement of your heart rate (the number of times your heart beats per minute) that gives an indication of the rhythm of your heart beat, as well as the strength of it.
Blood Pressure
What does this mean?
A simple way of checking if your blood pressure is too high or too low, using a sphygmomanometer (an automatic device that uses sensors in an arm cuff).
Pulse Oximetry
What does this mean?
A simple test to measure the oxygen level of the blood and see how well oxygen is being sent to parts of your body
Atrial Fibrillation
What does this mean?
A check of your pulse for any signs of atrial fibrillation, which is a heart condition that causes an irregular and often an abnormally-fast heart rate.
Body Mass Index (BMI)
What does this mean?
A measurement that is a ratio of your weight and height. It’s a good way to gauge whether your weight is in healthy proportion to your height.
Blood Cholesterol
What does this mean?
A blood test that can measure the amount of cholesterol and triglycerides in your blood. This test can help determine the risk of fatty deposits building up in your arteries which can cause damage (athersclerosis).
Blood Glucose
What does this mean?
A test that measures the glucose levels in your blood and is used to screen for diabetes and other serious medical conditions.
Peak Flow
What does this mean?
A simple measurement of how quickly you can blow air out of your lungs and is used to indicate if there is any narrowing of the airways.
Ten Year Cardiovascular Disease Score
What does this mean?
A calculation of your 10-year risk of having a cardiovascular problem, such as a heart attack or stroke.
