ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

ESOL qualifications support learners whose first language is not English.

Learners are taught skills such as reading, writing, speaking and listening as separate courses. ESOL qualifications give participants the confidence to use their English skills in their job and in the rest of their lives.

ESOL: Speaking and Listening

ESOL (Speaking and Listening) qualifications give learners the ability to speak English and be understood when sharing basic information, feelings and opinions to others. This gets more difficult as you learn to listen to others and understand what they are saying.

ESOL: Writing

ESOL (Writing) qualifications give learners the ability to write simple sentences correctly and complete simple forms in English. As the levels progress this will look at moving through to using correct grammar and punctuation.

ESOL: Reading

ESOL (Reading) qualifications give learners the ability to read and respond to written text in English. This gets more difficult and longer text as you progress through to Level 2 when you can understand what is written.
